Our little Reagan Elizabeth is one! How is that possible? In some ways, it seems like just yesterday that she entered our lives, but then I think about how much she (and we) have changed and wonder how all of that was possible in just one year!
I am sad that I haven’t updated her blog since April, but it has been a fun and busy spring into summer. She has changed so much in these few months. She is crawling (started going backward in May and forward in June). But all she really wants to do is walk! She still needs to hold on with one hand. She does really well and I think she could let go and do it on her own if she didn’t think about it.

She finally has two teeth on the bottom! They are so cute and luckily didn’t seem to bother her that much when they came in. She’s eating more and more regular food. She especially loves avocado and fruits like grapes, watermelon, cherries, and blueberries. We took her for her first ice cream and the girl is now addicted! I ate the first little bit of my small cone and then she finished it off. The next week when we took her, she lit up immediately when we showed her the cone and would not let us take it away! I can’t blame her, who doesn’t love ice cream?!
Her little personality is starting to really shine through. She is so happy and loves people, other babies, and animals. Our cat, Skyler is her absolutely favorite playmate, even though he would prefer he wasn’t. She says "kitty" whenever she seems him or hears him. She is also saying “hi”, “mama”, “dada”, “ducky”, and “uh oh”. They aren’t crystal clear but are very close! She also seems to say “what’s that?” when she points at things. It’s just amazing how much she already knows. She recognizes lots of words also.
Along with her cute, sweet personality, she has a little fiery side as well! She has mastered the arching of her back when you’re holding her and doing something she doesn’t want to do or not being allowed to do something that she does want to do. She is amazingly strong! She also throws little crying fits that luckily only last a minute or two.

She has also discovered how to stand up in her crib so naptimes and bedtime are a bit more interesting. She will just stand there and talk and talk until she gets really tired, then starts crying because she's ready to get down and either doesn't know how to, or just wants us to do it. So it would sometimes take her up to an hour to actually go to sleep. She's actually getting better about it, and now usually only talks for a few minutes. Luckily once she does go to sleep, she's still a really good sleeper.
We’ve done lots of fun things this spring/early summer. She loves going up to the camp and taking boat rides and watching the duckies swim by the dock. She also loves playing outside aka walking, walking, walking! And for her first birthday, she got a blow-up swimming pool and water table and she loves to play in those also. She also took her first swim with Daddy at Aunt Brooke’s and loved it from the minute she touched the water. She’s definitely a water baby! She also got to meet spend some time with relatives on the Donegan side, with Kim and Maya coming in all the way from Colorado! It was lots of fun and she just loved being around other kids.
Of course, the biggest day of the past few months was July 2 – her first birthday! Dave and I both had the day off of work, so we were able to spend the whole day together as a family, which was just wonderful. We all went to the duck pond in Manlius for lunch and got to walk around and watch the duckies. That afternoon/evening we had her little party and it was just so much fun! She loved having so many family members here all at once and was in her glory. By the time we did her cake and presents though, she was definitely tuckered out, but she still enjoyed it. Yes, we let her have her own big piece of cake and yes she made a huge mess (on herself and on me)! She didn’t seem to be into the cake all that much, we think mostly because she doesn’t like to get her hands dirty. Hmm, where could she have inherited those genes?!
Enjoy the photos from the last few months. I hope to get back on track with my monthly posts! Hope everyone has a fantastic summer!
